Welcome to Radio Headspace and to Thursday.

I've always loved cherry blossoms.

There are a few trees on my running path, and I often stop just to witness them for a

moment.

Knowing that they'll be in bloom for such a short period of time makes me feel particularly

grateful for their beauty.

I recently read a quote on impermanence that said it's impossible not to feel moved

while standing under a cherry blossom.

As symbols of the fleeting nature of life, they open our heart to the preciousness of

each moment.

Feeling the truth of impermanence can push us to act bravely and confront uncomfortable

truths that have been with us for a while.

As we get older, we feel time moving by much more quickly.

I find it helpful to thank this feeling, this urgency, as it's a companion that reminds

me to show up, take positive risks, and even show forgiveness.

Impermanence has taught me that holding on to past hurts can get in the way of mending

relationships with people before they're gone.

Or we have time to hear their side of the story.

Two years ago, I received a voicemail from my biological father who I had not spoken to

in 30 years.
