A lot of managers, you know, they worry about directs not wanting one-on-ones, right?

Even though it doesn't happen very often, But if you're worried about it or if it comes up

We're going to tell you what to do about it. Yeah, they ask even though the questions are hypothetical.

The manager hasn't even started doing one-on-ones yet, and it's not unusual in training sessions.

You know, by the way, that happens all the time.

We tell, we into conferences and in a consulting practice we talk with managers

about how to be more effective, how to get better results, how to have better relationships.

They haven't tried any of it, but man they can come up with a lot of reasons not to try.

Yeah, and that's pretty normal, right, for an adult who reasonably thinks, you know, I'm doing my job okay.

There's an old concept about if I change it will

essentially you know give an admission that I wasn't doing it good enough and if I

stay the way I'm doing then I can maintain the fiction

that what I'm doing is right.

It gets harder to change as you have more and more experience.
