Welcome back to Three Things. This is a very special episode in honor of Rick's friend,

Marshall Roush, who passed away this spring at 102 years young. Marshall was a businessman,

a community leader, an incredible storyteller, a devoted family man, and a listener favorite on this podcast.

Today, we're replaying some of our favorite moments with Marshall and remembering him as a

shining example of what it means to live a full and meaningful life.

Here are a few words from Rick to Marshall.

Dear Marshall, I knew this day will come, 102 is quite a life.

But what is great about your journey is not the length, but it's intensity.

No one, and I mean no one that I've ever met, has had the same attitude about life that you had. You woke up every

day looking for the bright things and you went through your day with no complaints. You leave

behind lots of us who are touched by your teachings and I will forever be grateful for having been part of your life. I love you

very, very much. I am super excited today because with us, I not only have a dear friend of mine, but somebody

that I look up to immensely.

Thank you for asking me. So Marshall, you are 96 years old.

You've had an incredible life. You play basketball at Duke. You were in World War II. You built a successful

business. You were a state senator for 24 years. You have a highway named after you,

but none of that in my mind compares to the kind of father, grandfather, husband, and friend that you

are. Tell us what friends and family mean to you.

That's all of it.
