On July 20th, yesterday, Malcolm Jamal Warner drowned while swimming with his family on vacation

in Limon, Costa Rica. I had the pleasure of speaking with Malcolm Jamal Warner, and I've also

had the pleasure of knowing people who have known him intimately from Michelle Thomas's mom,

Pemois, who is a friend of mine who talked about him,

being at her bedside when she made transition. In 1998, she played, of course, his girlfriend on

the Cosby Show, Justine, Michelle Thomas, and Daniel Black, who we, of course, know as part of our family,

pitched in on Malcolm Jamal Warner's album.

Kevin Powell, Jersey City Native, where Malcolm Jamal Warner was born in Jersey City, August 18th, 1970.

Knew him intimately.

Of course, we talked about him as well on Sirius XM.

But I had an opportunity to speak with him, talking about his album and celebrating him.

Very few times do we get to talk to people who made such an impact.

The Cosby Show was must-see TV.

Channel 4. I can't even remember a time when the Cosby Show wasn't on.

It was one of the highest rated shows of all time.

And Theo, Theo, the boy, with that Gordon Gattrol and all of the swagger,

but he reminded me of the kids that I grew up with,

and I could see myself in that household, and it felt good. And for those who couldn't imagine a doctor

and a lawyer producing children that, you know, went on to go to Ivy League schools and things,

it was aspirational. But the way Malcolm Jamal Warner walked through the earth was a man on a mission of discovery for himself and his people and just an amazing, incredible human beings.
