Hey, welcome to the Daily Drive. My name is Mike Burrow, and we hang together here for a few minutes

Monday through Friday, just trying to get to know God better.

And to do that, we've been diving into a great little book in the back of the Bible called the Book of James. As we learned last week, James was the brother, or more accurately, the half-brother

of Jesus. They had the same mom, but different fathers. And it took a while for James to come to

faith in Jesus. When we were going through the Gospel of John on this podcast a few weeks ago,

we ran across the time where James and the other brothers were making fun of their brother Jesus.

They're pretty cynical about this rising star of a brother.

It was only after the resurrection of Jesus that James came to believe,

for he saw with his own eyes that Jesus was literally a rising star. So James puts his faith in

Jesus and becomes an integral leader in the early church, and he writes this letter to new Jesus

followers to encourage them persevere through hard times,

and to put their faith in action, tells them that faith without works is dead, not a living kind of faith.

You know, with most sports, I can talk a good game.

I can give you the ends and outs, the rights and moments with just about any basketball game.

I can dissect plays, see blown assignments. I know the game. I played it. I coached it. I can analyze what I think

went sideways for the 49ers of Super Bowl 57. I can talk at the death. I can blame Taylor Swift

for everything. I can show you where to grip a baseball in order to throw a curve ball or a slider
