Summary

Beatrice speaks with Rasha Abdulhadi about how, as we near 11 months and 100+ years of genocidal settler colonial violence in Palestine, it is vital to remain steadfast in our demands for Palestinian liberation. We discuss turning away from despair towards patience and boldness in our actions, why our demands must push for and beyond “ceasefire,” and draw connections between settler colonialism here and in Palestine; inviting us all to become more skillful in keeping each other alive. Transcript forthcoming. This episode was recorded live at the 2024 Socialism Conference in Chicago in early September. We collaborated with conference organizers to host five discussions there over labor day weekend. Recordings and transcripts of those sessions will be released over the coming weeks. Hey everyone, Artie here.

0:02.8

Earlier this month, we collaborated with the organizers of the Socialism Conference to put

0:06.6

together five sessions for this year's conference, and today's episode is the second of those

0:11.2

recordings that we're going to be releasing over the coming weeks.

0:14.1

In case you missed it, there's more information on that in a longer introduction that I did

0:18.0

for the first session we released, which was an episode called the Political Economy of COVID.

0:22.8

But today's episode is be in conversation with Rasha Abdul-Hadi about the need to be more

0:27.7

bold in our actions in solidarity with Palestine.

0:30.6

They'll introduce the discussion in just a moment, but I have just a couple of quick

0:34.1

notes about this.

0:35.4

The first is that toward the end of today's episode,

0:38.0

you'll hear a guided facilitation that Rasha did with everyone in attendance.

0:42.1

My suggestion for this part of the episode,

0:44.4

and the reason that we've included as audio,

0:47.1

is if you can, do the exercise that Rasha runs through.

0:51.2

Take a moment to think about the questions that they pose.

0:53.9

If you're with a

0:54.6

group of people while you're listening to this, try doing it together. That's my suggestion. The second

0:59.3

thing is just a small note for context. Midway through the recording, you'll hear Rasha talk about

1:03.6

the conditions at the event, reflecting what they call kind of a Davos safe environment. So just to make

1:09.0

sure that there's context for this that everyone in the room had,

1:11.6

but that you wouldn't necessarily know just listening in.
