So one of the things that really drew me to your work

was how you talk about actually going beyond managing stress and actually

decreasing stress. At this point in my life as an HBR editor I've read so much

on managing stress that I'm not sure it even occurred to me that one could

there and sort of how you look at that. Well I think it's a really important

distinction because when we talk about managing stress now absolutely this is important so managing

stress is extremely important but when we look at managing stress what we're

really saying is we're going to take everything that's there and we're going to try to manage it to the best of our ability. When we talk about decreasing

stress, we're actually looking at what's going on in our lives and saying, what is it

that we can actually eliminate? Because there are so many things that happen in our lives that contribute to stress and they're really the result of our reaction to the event that is arising as opposed to in objective terms that it is in fact
