| 0:13.0 | This week we are exploring the theme, the art of forest bathing, otherwise known as connecting more deeply with the natural world. |
| 0:26.0 | Now, why would this be important, especially if you don't necessarily enjoy spending a lot of time outside? |
| 0:34.0 | Well, it turns out that when you spend time among plants, any kind of plants, but especially tall green trees, you boost your immunity and lower your stress level hormones. |
| 0:51.0 | Studies show that spending time in nature is one of the best ways to manage depression. |
| 0:59.0 | What if you don't live near a natural area? What if you live in the city? What if you just don't have time to spend in the natural environment? |
| 1:11.0 | What you can do instead is to receive many benefits simply by having house plants around you, or place flowers in a vase, and keep them somewhere where you see them often. |
| 1:26.0 | Science shows that even looking at photos or paintings of natural areas, you still receive many benefits. |
| 1:38.0 | In fact, that's why hospitals often have paintings or photos that are framed of beautiful natural settings, because it's calming, and also you can simply visualize yourself in a beautiful natural setting. |
| 1:55.0 | So maybe as a goal this week, you could purchase a few more house plants and place them in areas where you spend time. |
| 2:03.0 | Remember, your focus or your weekly challenge is to daily connect with nature, whether you're actually in nature or visualizing a beautiful natural place. |
| 2:19.0 | And that's what you'll be doing in today's meditation. |
| 2:22.0 | So today's meditation is a stress reducing meditation, because when you visualize yourself in natural surroundings, it's going to help lower your stress level hormones. |
| 2:37.0 | As an extra benefit, if you'd like to do an ancient technique for your modern life, I always share with you on day four of a series, a mudra. |
| 2:50.0 | Many of you let me know, mudras are your favorite meditation technique. If you're new here, you might wonder what is a mudra. |
| 2:58.0 | Mudras are a way you position your hands in a way that's considered to stimulate a corresponding region of your brain. |
| 3:07.0 | In fact, they're often referred to as yoga in your hands. So when you do a mudra, it's a lot like acupressure. |
| 3:15.0 | Today's mudra is a simple mudra to do, and I'll guide you through it. So as you sit down somewhere comfortable, make sure your spine is nice and straight. |
| 3:28.0 | You might be seated out in nature, which I've been encouraging you to do this week. |
| 3:33.0 | And remember, the reason you're doing this is to help you manage stress. |
| 3:39.0 | It's to help your body naturally lower stress level hormones and to boost your immunity. |
| 3:49.0 | This is so important, visualizing yourself spending time in nature and actually spending time in nature. |
