So we're continuing our week and all the feelings that come up with the

holidays and this year I'm taking a different stance on gifting. The idea of gifts has evolved

for me over the years. You see for me the true value of a gift isn't determined by its price tag, but by the emotion and intention

behind it.

Growing up, the sheer joy of unwrapping a single doll or delving into a fresh coloring book made Christmas

magical. But it wasn't really about those objects. It was about the collective warmth of family gatherings.

So today I want to explore the idea of gifting beyond the material realm.

Now, it wasn't long ago that one of my mindfulness students, Sarah, came to me with a heavy heart. After recently investing their life savings in a beautiful home in Fort Collins, Colorado,

she and her husband felt the financial squeeze of the upcoming holiday season.

With Christmas on the horizon they decided to gift their

family something truly meaningful. Sarah's idea was heartfelt, a paint-by-number

portrait of their recently passed Nana for the entire family to create together.

But Sarah's story took a twist when her mother-in-law responded with disappointment. In an attempt to be

helpful, she even sent Sarah a list of affordable gifts they could consider.
