Today's the first day that the defense started putting on witnesses.

First up, we had John Edens.

He is a psychologist, as well as a professor at Texas A&M University.

explains how she met Tanner's dad whose name is Terry. They met at a bar she was working at.

She was 17 and he was 29. She found out she was pregnant with Tanner when she was eight weeks

along. And before she found out, she drank heavily. She said enough to get cirrhosis of the liver.

She also smoked cigarettes and marijuana, but did not fully stop. She said the marijuana

helped with the morning sickness. And then she talked about when Tanner was starting school,

kids just were not interested in interacting with Tanner at all. He didn't know how to

She had him tested and he was diagnosed as being on the spectrum. Doctors told her Tanner had ADHD,

but he didn't, but they were giving him meds. And she said those medications changed him into

something he wasn't. She said he got services, including Social Security benefits. Like I said last week,

I'm not going to go very deep into the defense case. They can present all their evidence. That's

what defense attorneys do to try to save their client's life. But for me, he knew what he was doing

was wrong because he hid evidence. He lied to investigators and a million other things that show he is culpable.
