We started the day with the witness that was on the stand yesterday, the doctor that

evaluated Tanner while he was in jail. Y'all, this woman, I know she is hired and paid well

by the defense to try and save Tanner's life, but there were some lines crossed for me today

with her cross-examination. Let's jump in. She does not agree it's of critical importance

that the person she's interviewing tells her the truth. She said it depends on what the question is,

what the issue is, and what additional information one might have. The state says so he can lie about

some things, but not others, and that's okay. She said it's not okay,

but it is what it is. People lie, but it doesn't mean everything they're saying is untruthful,

and that's where discovery and collateral sources come into her judgment on what is true and what is

not. When you ask someone a direct question, you don't think it's important that what someone

says is true?

She said it's not a question of importance when you're doing this kind of evaluation.

And the state's like, I'm confused.

You're making your diagnosis based on lies.

She said it's based not only on what he told me, but information from educational records, social history, collateral informants,

medical records, and in a forensic evaluation, you never rely on just what the person tells you.
