And there will be some thinking today because we are digging in our verse by verse study through First Peter

into a passage of just actually two verses that are packed with content.

I can't wait to share it with you, so let's get started.

Okay, so we're going to read 1st Peter, Chapter 2,

versus 9 and 10, just to get us started with a study

because in these two verses is a wealth of cool stuff.

And we just want to like unravel it and unpack it and really understand it so we'll read it first and then we'll go into it so it says here

first Peter 29 but you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people,

that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, who once were not a people,

but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but have now, or now have obtained mercy.

So many of these titles that he gives us here,

his own special people, these are actually lifted

straight from the Old Testament.

They would have applied to Israel, but they're given to us.

And so the first thought is, why is that the case?

Some people think that the Christian church

has straight up replaced Israel.

Israel is no long, God's not interested in Israel,

he's cast them off forever, he has divorced them permanently, and's that's the thought right but a careful or even

an not careful reading of the scripture indicates that's not the case
