She's the executive director of Fibershed Award which she coined, and this is a local resource for creating

textiles, for dies for textiles and clothing.

And she's been doing this for a long time for well over a decade and she's got some really interesting insights to share with us today. So welcome and thank you for joining us, Rebecca.

So, this is an area where many people aren't too familiar with.

They don't really pay much attention to.

So why don't really pay much attention to.

So why don't you first provide us

with the understanding of your background

and how you came to this area

and why you've been doing this for the last 15 years?

I started this work actually when I was asked to teach young children

how to use natural, well actually I was taught to train young children and how to use dies,

I'll just put it that way. When I was in college, it was a textile arts summer program

that I was in charge of direct instruction for 10 or so 9 year olds.

And it was a summer job and it exposed me to the arts and crafts side of textile dyeing, which a lot of the ingredients for the craft dies are the same ingredients.

They're actually a better quality ingredient than what is used for industrial production. And so in the process of
