Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive into Genesis 11, verse 4.

Now, making covenants with God brings us incredible power. We gain closer access to heaven. We take Christ's name

upon us, and we can be sealed to our families forever. These blessings and more are ours because of

covenants made with God in the waters of baptism and in the temple. However, the people who built

the Tower of Babel didn't want to bother with covenants.

They wanted all of God's blessings without his help or rules.

Look at what they said was their reason for building the tower.

Quote, go to let us build us a city and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven and let us

make a name lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. The goal of building

the Tower of Babel was one, closeness to heaven, two, a name, and three, the power not to be scattered.

It seems so silly when we reflect on what they did, but do we ever do the same? Do we try to figure out a way

to be happy and receive blessings without requiring ourselves to be righteous? Do we hope to gain a testimony of the same? Do we try to figure out a way to be happy and receive blessings without

studying them? Do we expect that we'll be able to receive revelation without spending serious

time and prayer? Today might be a good day to consider what blessings we want and how we can

more earnestly work toward them. So the takeaway of the day

in five words or less is, real happiness comes from God. Thanks so much for being here today
