0:13.8	Today we're going to be walking through Romans chapter 9 in conjunction with what R.C.
0:19.6	Spruill teaches in his commentary.
0:21.6	In fact, let me show that to you so that you see it.
0:24.3	It is called, ironically, to me at least, the righteous shall live by faith,
0:28.7	because that's Romans 117, which we often point out as a verse that's often missed
0:35.8	when looking at the commentary of Romans chapter one because oftentimes you
0:39.3	forget that he's contrasting in verse 18 those who don't live by faith with those who do live by
0:44.6	faith. So the righteous live by faith, not because they're righteous in and of themselves,
0:48.3	but the righteous lived by faith because by trusting in the righteousness of Christ, they are
0:52.2	declared saved, they are declared justified in the sight of God because they are trusting in the righteousness of Christ, they are declared, saved.
0:58.6	They are declared justified in the sight of God because they are trusting in the righteousness of Christ.
0:59.5	Righteous lived by faith, not because they earn their own righteousness, not because they've merited
1:03.1	righteousness, but they're trusting in the righteousness of another.
1:05.6	In contrast to that is those who refuse to believe, those who suppress the truth and
1:09.7	unrighteousness.
1:10.4	And so what a lot of Calvinists do, beginning in verse 18, is to interpret that as meaning
1:14.7	every single person is born unable to believe the gospel and can't believe the gospel,
1:20.1	when really what Paul is saying, no one can live perfectly, therefore you need to trust in the
1:24.2	perfect one. And that's where I think Calvinists have made some of their error with regard to what Romans 1 through 3 is actually getting to and miss our point of contention.
