And it's not great news when it comes to the Silver and Black because they did lose a key cog, a major figure in their past on Monday.

The great Rod Martin passed away, 1954 to 2026.

Saw that floating around social media earlier and I was thinking, I don't know if this is real or not.

And then saw that the Raiders officially put out a statement and a picture talking about the passing of Rod Martin.

They went on to say the Raiders family is deeply saddened by the passing of Rod Martin,

a standout linebacker and key player on two Super Bowl championship teams.

12th round draft picked by the Silver and Black out of USC at 1977.

Rod would become a mark of consistency on, playing in 165 games with 147 starts in 12 NFL seasons, all with

the Raiders. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, he was named All-Pro twice, garnering first-team

honors in 84 as a central figure in a dominant defensive effort in Super Bowl 15.

He set a Super Bowl record that still remains with three interceptions in the Raiders 2710 victory over the Eagles.

Three years later, he recorded a sack and a fumble recovery as the Raiders defeated Washington in Super Bowl 18, 38 to 9.

A beloved member of the Raiders family and a favorite of Raiders fans everywhere.

The deepest condolences of the entire Raider nation are with Rod's family at this time. That was a statement put out by the Silver and Black on Monday. And look, I only knew Rod from the time that I've been in Las Vegas for, you know, since 2021. And I tell you what, every time I saw him, he always had a big smile on his face. He always had his rings with him, but he always had a big smile in his face. He was willing to give Raider Nation any amount of time that you wanted. You want to chop it up about Raider football. You want to just talk about life. He was always willing to do that. And every single time I saw him around town, he was always full of life, full of energy. One of those guys, they say that, you know, certain personalities are infectious. He had that infectious personality. And so, you know, it didn't look like he ever had a bad day. Obviously, he was a great raider, but he was just a great dude in general. And I always have Kirk Morrison on my radio show each and every Monday, and he knew

him really well.

He tweeted out, rest in peace to one of the best.

This one hurts.
