Hello and welcome to another episode of Radio Westeros. I'm Lady Guinevere and with me as always is Yuck Boy.

Yeah, hi everyone. As many of you know, we've recently covered the various waves of settlement in Westeros,

first men and or's Roynar and with this episode we were set to cover Aegon Targaryans

conquest of Westeros.

But when we set out to write about Aegon's conquest,

we found that we couldn't discuss the Targaryan migration to

and conquest of Westeros without explaining how they came to be living on

dragonstone.

And we couldn't discuss that without discussing the Doom of Valeria.

And we really can't discuss that without well let's just say as Mr George R. R. R. Martin is fond of saying

the tale grew in the telling. That's right and so instead of a single episode about Aegon's conquest we now present to you

part one of a two-part series within a series an analysis of the circumstances that led to Aegon Targaryan, been on the fringes of

Westeros, and how the young Dragon Lord came to leave his island fastness and build a fort upon the shores of a new continent.

Part 2 will cover the conquest itself, battles fought and treaties made, kings who knelt or

burned or died defiantly, and lessons learned.

Look for that later in the year.

But first, as we said, in order to fully understand Aggon Targarian's conquest of West Rose,

we need to turn our attention to the history of the Valerian Freehold.

The conquest began in 2 BC and so our gaze for this episode will be fixed on the years prior to that seeking

answers to questions like what was the Valerian freehold up to in Esos following its destruction of

ruinish civilization. Is there anything in the history of those years
