Today we have an episode we've wanted to present for a long time

one of our favorite aspects of a song of ice and fire the

Knights Watch. Given this is a sprawling topic with significant depth and lore not to mention a

storyline in the main series with a wide cast of characters

we'll be doing this in two parts. Today we'll be looking at the foundation of the

watch, the ancient history and lore, as well as focusing on the culture of the organization.

So first we'll look at what happened during the long night to inspire building a gigantic wall at the northern end of Westeros.

We'll look at those early days of the watch, even predating the wall

as the Black Brothers banded together with the last hero and the children of the forest
