Summary

Blue Zones are regions of the world where people live longer and happier than anywhere else. There are lots of reasons for this — what they eat, how much they move. But the deep relationships that people in Blue Zones have add up to 8 years to their lives. Is there someone special to you that you haven’t connected with in a while? This weekend, give them a call.  Make sure you share, download, and subscribe to catch new episodes of Radio Headspace starting Monday, October 12, 2020.  Learn more about your ad choices. Hey everyone, it's K-Sunga here. I just want to let you know that we've launched a brand

0:07.0

new call and advice podcast called Dear Headspace. Each week the headspace teachers, along

0:14.6

with some amazing new friends, are answering your questions about relationships, work,

life, mindfulness, and just about everything else. It's so different from anything we've

0:27.5

ever created and we're so excited for you to hear it. Dear Headspace comes out every

Tuesday on the Headspace app and anywhere that you listen to podcasts. Thanks for listening.

Hi, my name is Andy and welcome to Radio Headspace. Hard to believe we're at the end of

1:01.9

the week already. I don't know what you have planned for the weekend but my hope is, my

1:06.7

guess is, it's going to involve some people around you, whether it's family members, whether

1:39.6

I think he may have even come up with the name blue zones, but blue zones are those regions

1:43.3

of the world where for whatever reason, usually a combination of reasons, people seem to live

1:49.4

that much longer than elsewhere in the world. And we got talking about sort of what were the

1:55.0

ingredients that led to a long and happy life and it's really important to stress that this

2:00.3

isn't just long life. This is also a life that has a sense of meaning, of purpose and where there

2:06.2

is a greater sense of happiness. And as we sort of talked about it, there was some of the things

2:11.6

that you would expect. There was exercise. Although not exercises we know it, not going out for a

2:17.7

run, not going to the gym and lifting weights, it was more just general movement in day-to-day life.

2:23.6

Getting up and down from sitting on the floor, walking to the shops, things that in many countries,
