I think the biggest question that I get when I share my harvest of either fall crops or spring

0:07.1

crops, some of those like carrots and lettuce and broccoli and things like that, I get questions

0:13.2

on when did I plant? We talked about on Tuesday's full-length episode about different plant

0:19.4

timing considerations with

0:21.1

tomatoes and peppers and I think more of us probably have a handle on when to

0:25.3

plant warmer season crops than we do the cooler season crops and I think this

0:30.5

lack of knowledge stumps some beginners it trips them up and and sometimes it

0:34.8

really even makes a difference on whether they get a harvest or not.

When to plant cool season crops really depends on a lot of factors. And so I know that's

0:43.5

that's a hard thing to hear because it does depend on your climate and it does depend on the

0:49.5

crops. Some crops are more cold tolerant or heat tolerant than others. But in general, I want you to

0:57.3

keep this in mind, at least in my experience, while warm season crops don't need to be planted

1:03.1

until after your last frost has passed, almost in every instance, well, in every instance in my

1:10.6

garden, but although it might be different

1:12.4

in different climates, but for the most part, a general rule is that cool season crops in the spring

1:18.2

need to be planted before your average last frostate. Whether that's before the average last frostate,

1:25.7

if you're sewing them them indoors like broccoli or

1:28.0

cabbage and and sometimes you can do lettuce indoors i do it to get a head start or whether you are

1:33.6

directly sewing them in the garden like for carrots and peas and lettuce if you're directly sewing that

1:40.2

arugula spinach that kind of thing those all need to be started in your garden before your

1:45.2

average last frostate. Now that may depend on your climate as far as when your soil can actually

1:50.8

take some of those seeds if you're planting from seed. But the thing to keep in mind is that you're
