On today's Q&A, I'm going to seek to give you some guidance on a question that I get quite frequently.

It's a very common one, but it may not have the same answer for everyone.

And that is, what do I do about watering my garden?

First of all, I don't remember who sent this question in, but whoever it was was thinking ahead

because it's really good to be able to start thinking

about these things now.

If your garden is anything like mine,

this time of year, we don't have to worry about that as much

because rainfall usually takes care of most everything,

but then when the garden gets really busy,

then you're like, oh shoot, I need to make a plan for this, right?

So it's really good to be thinking of this now. The first thing I would recommend before we even

talk about watering options is something that you're going to hear in the podcast soon, and that is

make a plan for mulching. I think mulching is really the first step,

making sure that you have a plan for it,

even if you haven't laid it yet,

because the watering efforts that you make

are not going to go very far

if you don't have mulch in place.

And this is specifically the case with an in-ground garden

and a raised bed garden, although mulching containers

can also be helpful to prevent the evaporation when you're watering your containers as well.
