This week's big news is that the Navy finally admitted what I've known all along, that the way to make a 35,000 ton battleship with frickin' laser beams even cooler is you drop a couple of nuclear reactors in that bad girl.

And gentlemen, we discussed the

proposed trump class battleship and i'll come back to the name later when the white house announced

it back in December but something nagged at me and as they're trying to settle on a design here

things are coming into shape so quick recap the Navy said that the new battleships

are going to carry 128 Mark 41 vertical launch system cells, 12 conventional prompt strike

long-range hypersonic missiles, and two five-inch guns, because those are just kind of classic.

But the design also has margin to add additional weapons including

freaking laser beams and possibly

a 32 megajuel

rail gun, if we can ever

get those working. And as I

said at the time,

there's no way to do all of that

unless you've got nuclear power

for that ship instead of a instead of

running that thing on regular fuel and when we discussed this I was frustrated that the

b bg wasn't going to be a b bggn so instead of battleship guided missile I want a battleship

guided missile nuclear propulsion well we're finally going to get it, according to the Navy, and we're probably just going to drop a couple of those A1B reactors from the Ford class carriers in there. And Bill, finally, it's the battleship we need if we actually need a battleship.
