Summary

A while back I received an e-mail from a guy named Mike Ducille. It was an invitation to Mike's book club, which includes a number of other like-minded creators and entrepreneurs. Some topics we get into:

  • Lessons learned from a failed app launch- what do you do after a major failure? I'm not talking about a little mis-step. How do you bounce back from a potentially career-stifling blow?

  • The psychology of money (check out Ramit Sethi's book). Ramit is also launching a podcast to bolster the stuff he's already putting out in the world. Highly recommended checking it out, especially if you want to improve your mindset around money.

  • Scaling a business by charging higher prices- time is a powerful tool. As you gain experience, connections and skill, you need to charge higher prices. What if you could sell your work for 10x more than you do now? The key here is finding the market and conveying value to the right person.

  • Sending effective personal messages, collaborating with high profile folks, handling guests' busy schedules... Knowing how to navigate the world of assistants, LinkedIn and cold e-mails gives you leg up on your counterparts.

I love this stuff. What Mike and his book club are doing is a great example of how to use online community to lift each other up.

Enjoy!

Hey everybody, what's up? It's Chase. Welcome to another episode of the show. Diving right in, I got an email. This particular email was flagged because it was from a guy named Mike Ducille. And it was an invitation to Mike's book book club which includes a number of other like-minded

questions from the book, the concepts that

they talked about.

And now this was in the wake of, it was about a year ago, maybe a little bit less.

And it was around my book, Creative Calling.

And what stood, there's a couple of things that stood out to,

0:55.5

uh, about Mike's email. Um, one is that he'd been paying attention to this community,

1:01.7

the one that you're a part of right now that you're listening to the show, the community,

1:05.7

um, for a long time and as understood the nuance of navigating the future of creativity, of entrepreneurship,

of living the life of our dreams.

1:20.6

And then second, I love people who take action and who rally and organize others.

1:25.9

Not everyone's lot in life, but to me, this was an interesting

way to essentially talk with one person who in turn can affect the lives of so many others.

1:36.1

So my goal with today's show is to share with you a Zoom call where I answered questions from this

the book, creative calling, but most importantly, the actions that we all ought to take and the mindset

required to pursue our dreams in career, in hobby, and in life. So a little warning here. As I

mentioned, the call, I was en route to the airport. So there's definitely some background noise

and the cell service isn't perfect.

But nonetheless, this is, I think, an important exchange of ideas that as I survey the
