Summary

I asked and you voted. And well, it's no surprise that the audience choice for best episode on the podcast over the last 10 years and 300 episodes is one of my favorite people in the world, Brené Brown.

Brené is a vulnerability and empathy expert and has one of the most watched TED Talks of all time on the subject. She is the author of four New York Times bestselling books, one of which, Daring Greatly, has served as a crucial resource for my own creativity. Her book, Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone, is not only a tool for personal development, it's also a blueprint for communication at scale, especially in difficult conversations.

We get into how loneliness is related to creativity, why artists have a unique ability to speak truth to bullshit, and setting boundaries without being a jerk. This stuff is critical to maximize the impact you have with your work, art, craft, etc.

Brené's ability to stand alone didn't come easy, that was something she trained and practiced. As she discloses in the show, although she often gives speeches to large audiences, she identifies as an introvert and feels the same social anxiety we all experience.

If you're new to this episode, I can't wait for you to hear this. If you've already listened a time or two, thanks for selecting it for another listen. I would not be surprised if something hits you that needed to hear right now.

Enjoy!
