Hello and welcome to Psychology in Seattle. I'm your host, Kirk Honda Licensed Therapists.

0:04.9

This episode is a presentation of a case formulation of Gloria as presented in her session with Carl Rogers.

0:13.4

Gloria is a woman in the 1960s who agreed to be filmed in the 1960s in a session with the renowned therapist Carl Rogers, and this film

0:22.9

is very famous. You can see it on YouTube, if you like. In fact, I recommend that you watch it

0:28.0

before you listen to this podcast, because this podcast will not make a lot of sense without

0:33.3

having seen it already. And if you've seen it in the past a long time ago, it might be good to

1:21.7

that's what I do 99% of the time in my private practice. I simply don't have the time to

1:26.8

write up formal formulations

1:28.2

for all my clients. But sometimes it's useful to write it all out, to take the time to clarify

1:33.8

what I believe, what I see in the client, what I'm looking for, and how I think people change,

1:40.3

and how I might help that specific client. And before I go into the formulation of Gloria, I thought I should explain my theoretical

1:48.0

orientation as it stands today.

1:50.3

My theoretical orientation has changed a lot over the years, but in my approach to this
