Welcome to AT Parenting Survival Podcast, where you get supporting guidance through the chaos of parenting.

0:07.0

Here's your host, Child Therapist Natasha Daniels.

0:10.0

Well, hello there, and welcome to another episode of the AT parenting survival

0:15.6

podcast. I have gotten a lot of requests to do a podcast on perfectionism.

0:23.0

And honestly, I can't believe I've never done one on it before.

0:27.0

Maybe I have, but I looked back and I don't think I have.

0:30.0

This is episode 89, so there are 89 episodes. So that's quite a lot but even if I did one a long time ago

0:37.8

It is time to do another one because it's a really common issue a lot of us have perfectionistic kids and a lot of times

0:47.1

it's difficult to help them they a lot of times don't want help, aren't open to help, and become really difficult when we try to get

1:26.2

thinking. The earlier you can do that the better, but even if your child's

1:31.2

a teenager it's not too late. Even if you're an adult, it's not too late.

1:35.3

There's always the ability to change. It's just that when they're little and they're really shaping their world

1:41.8

That is the easiest time to do it. So I'm going to talk to you

1:45.0

about how to talk to your kids about perfectionism and things you can do to make it

1:51.0

better. Now the first thing you want to do, like everything else I talk about

1:56.5

is educate your child on what perfectionism is because we can't really fix something unless our kids understand what the problem is and

2:06.1

what we're trying to work on. And we have their buy-in to want to work on it themselves. So a lot of times kids will come into my practice and
