Summary

Your child is erasing and rewriting their homework…again. She is asking you over and over again if her answers sound right. She checks and rechecks that you understand what she is trying to tell you. Is she a perfectionist? Or could it be something more? Your son tightens one shoe and then the other. “No!” He shouts. The left one is not as tight as the right. He unties the shoes and begins again. Tying and tying. Over and over again. Does he have Sensory Processing Disorder or could it be something different? Just Right OCD is often missed. It can look like so many other issues. So what is Just Right OCD and how do you help kids who have it? Let’s talk… ***This podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be used to replace the guidance of a qualified professional.Visit my website at www.ATparentingSurvival.comInterested in my AT Parenting Community Membership? Here's your host, Child Therapist Natasha Daniels.

0:11.0

Well, hello there, and welcome to another episode of the AT Parenting Survival

0:16.8

Podcast. I hope you are doing well this week and for those that celebrated

0:21.6

Thanksgiving I hope you had a great holiday and

0:24.1

I hope your kids survived. Mine did so that was good. Today I want to talk about

0:30.7

just-right OCD. It is a really good topic to go over because

0:36.8

surprisingly 50% of people who have O. C. D. will have this theme. And I talk about this in previous episodes, but O. C.D.

0:49.3

has many different themes. And so it can look really different in each person and I think it's

0:55.4

super important for parents and for children to understand all of the different

0:59.7

themes and so I do break them out and I go over each theme in episode 25.

1:05.0

So there's eight themes that I kind of go over and I name them and I talk about what they look like.

1:12.0

But lately I've been doing

1:14.0

podcast episodes on those individual themes to help parents, one, learn more in

1:20.8

depth about what that theme is and how it looks in kids, how to spot it

1:25.5

early, and then how to help your children with them. So just write OCD and I

1:32.2

would say moral OCD are two of the most OCD themes, probably equally missed among parents.

1:40.0

Moral OCD also known as scrupulous O. Croupulosity O. C. D. We went over that in episode 32.

1:50.0

And if you're like, what, what is that?

1:54.0

Go revisit episode 32.

1:56.0

Because I am trying to systematically

1:58.0

eventually go over all the eight themes in more detail.
