Hello, my friends, I'm Jared Halverson, and welcome back to Day 2 of Choir Practice.

Last week we covered the first 48 Psalms, and today we'll get up to Psalm 100,

which will leave the last 50 for next week for our final dress rehearsal before we sing with the choirs above.

Now, hopefully we've been singing with them all along.

And if you're still struggling with the quality of your own voice,

then let me reassure you that there have been singers worse than you, no matter how bad you are.

One of the absolute worst might actually be Heber J. Grant, who became President of the Church.

So, obviously, you don't have to have a good vocal tone to be of usefulness in the Kingdom of God.

There's actually some hilarious stories of a young Heber J. Grant just wanting to learn to sing.

If there's one thing that he was known for, it was his dogged determination, his persistence.

It got him to go from barely being able to throw a baseball from first base to second to becoming an incredible baseball player.

It got him from going from chicken scratches when he tried to write.

Some said it looked like lightning and hit the ink bottle to become an award-winning penman.

And when it came to singing, well, he sang and he sang and he sang.

And he got a little bit better.

Well, anything's better than absolute tone deaf, which is where he began.
