what I'm concerned about as a journalist is the confluence, right? And the next steps. Because when I

interview folks who are pushing at the local level, I've covered this for HeatMap. When you talk to

people at the local level, it's not as clear what comes after. Sometimes a town will ban data

centers. Sometimes a town will ban solar farms. And in both cases, you don't really

understand where that's headed until three months, six months a year down the road. And what I was

trying to get out with that question to you was just simply what comes next. The Republicans in the

government now, in the federal government, have outright

banned offshore wind. There's not really a plan for after. And from a policy perspective,

there is something a little liberal in that, right? But I'm also trying to better understand

like the long-term ideological project of just outright banning an entire industry without much of a plan

after. I'm a climate journalist. There's a lot of climate reasons why we should be very,

very concerned about the spread of data centers right now. But I'm interested in understanding and

unpacking what the long-term project for leftists is as much as for the right here.

and the comparison of technology that's intended to minimize the creation of greenhouse gases

and lessen the climate crisis in the terms of clean energy like wind

energy and solar, being compared to the growth of data centers where the problem is they're

going to consume additional energy and have additional greenhouse gases, conflating those in saying
