This is John Bachelor. I spoke with my colleagues Gordon Chang and Bill Gertz of the Washington Times about artificial intelligence in the People's Republic of China.

Bill surprisingly turned us to the question of how artificial intelligence is to be used, not to advance the economic story for China, but to strengthen the surveillance state.

Now underway, why? Bill explains. The Chinese Communist Party fears being opposed.

Criticized, knocked, challenged, much the same way that Ronald Reagan challenged the Soviet Union months upon a time.

The ideology is the vulnerability because it's an ideology based on falsehoods and false conclusions and brutality. Here's Bill.

I think they look at it like they are looking at almost everything under Xi Jinping right now, which is national security has come to dominate.

It used to be that economics for many years came to dominate policies and actions in Beijing, but now it's national security.

Obviously they look at every single technology and measure it against what will this do to the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, which is widely despised in China.

Again, this is a key vulnerability. I think the West should employ artificial intelligence to further undermine the illegitimacy of the Chinese Communist Party.

That's what they fear most, this disparity between 1.4 billion Chinese people, and I think they're up to 98 million members of the Chinese Communist Party.

That's a real vulnerability for that system. Like Reagan said of the Soviet Union that it's destined for the ash heap of history, the West needs to be doing that now.

Unfortunately, the Biden administration has not done that. They've actually in response to Chinese Communist Party demands, they've actually told the Chinese that we will not seek to undermine the Chinese Communist system in the so-called competition between Washington and Beijing.

They don't flaw in my view. The Communist system ultimately will go away. It's based on false assumptions and false ideas and false economics and false philosophy, and yet there's very little reluctance for people to drill down on what they call Marxism, Leninism with Chinese characteristics for the new era.

We got to do that. People like yourself and myself, we focus a lot on the ideology, and I remember the Cold War with the Soviet Union. It was Reagan that went after the ideology and supported the people that wanted to expose the ideology behind the Iron Curtain that ultimately helped bring down the Soviet Union.
