Subhead, the general made an impression in 2018 when he said, according to the president,

that the Islamic State could be defeated in a week.

I welcome my favorite Air Force General, retired, General Blaine Holt, to comment on what it means to have the Air Force in command of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who Dan Kane is, what we can expect from an F-16 pilot now leading the nation's military in a conflict-laden world. Blaine, a very good evening to you.

Thank you for this. Who is Dan Cain? What do we need to know about him and the Air Force in charge?

Good evening. Good evening and it's great to be here. Well, let's start with this call sign

Raisin. Raisin Cain. He is a fighter pilot to the core. And as a young fighter pilot,

Dan Kane, along with another friend of mine, Heather Penny, were to have 16 pilots on 9-11,

and they went after Flight 93 to down it in case it didn't down itself. So he is a man who, and a pilot who has gone through his career steeped in audacity.

And that's what we look for in war fighters, in strategists, that you're looking to balance

risk with an operation.

And when we look at how Dan saw the battle space for ISIS back in 2018,

you had all these bureaucrats wearing uniforms wringing their hands about all the things that could go wrong.

And Dan did what we would expect of our airmen is to stand up and see it differently

and say we can take care of this in about a week.

And President Trump, he is not drawn to the Department of No. He is drawn to how can we do it?

And Dan proved that. And so I believe that President Trump had him earmarked for something greater down the line.

And then this opportunity came up because not many people in my

circles thought that General CQ Brown would be with us much longer. And so now a very unusual

path to four-star rank in this position, but here he is.
