The Little Good Mouse, or La Bonputee Surry, is a French literary fairy tale by Madame Dolnoi. She wrote many such very tales during the second half of the 17th century and first years of the 18th century.

This English version was included in the Red Fairy Book,

compilation of folk and fairy tales put together by Scottish author Andrew Lang and his wife, editor and writer

Lenora Blanch Elaine. The Red Fairy Book was published in 1890, and we have read a few tales from it so far on the

bookshelf.

This story is about two kingdoms, one happy and one miserable.

When the angry king kidnaps the good queen and her daughter.

Their fates are left in the hands of a fairy.

The fairy takes pity on the mother and child

and promises they'll be safe.

But the king locks them in his tower and the queen is left only with a little mouse for a friend. What will become of them and will the

fairy's promise be fulfilled? We hope you will join us for this season.
