from the Allied point of view, was a man named Sir Harold Alexander, a very famous soldier

who is not as well known as Bernard Montgomery,

who went on to be the hero of Normandy,

and later on the chief of staff of the British Army right after the war.

But Sir Harold Alexander, called Alex affectionately,

was the hero to the troops in Italy and the other commands that he
