This is John Batchel. Conversation with colleague Alan Tonnelson. What is it that the Chinese won in order to make a deal with the United States on trade?

Alan says three things. Each of them are a challenge. However, here's Alan Tonnelson, his opinion of two of them.

about what the Chinese want to sit down for a trade negotiation with the U.S.

According to Bloomberg, more of this tonight.

According to a Bloomberg report this morning, they want more respectful behavior from the Trump administration, which would be to say no more remarks like Vice President advances a little while ago about Chinese peasants.

They want a softening of U.S. tech export controls, which means that they're really worried about them, but I can't see that happening at all. And they want what they call a clarification of the U.S. position regarding Taiwan's independence.
