Vice President of the Lexington Institute, Rebecca Grant, to help us on a story that

requires some sense of irony. I read from the Financial Times headline

over these last days before the attack on Jerusalem and Israel. U.S. asked China to tell Iran not to retaliate against Israel.

Subhead, diplomatic push comes as Washington says Tehran is read military response to strike on consulate.

Since that headline we've had more information, the attack and then we come to an up-to-date

update version of this same story. China deeply concerned

about escalation after Iran strikes Israel.

Rebecca, a very good evening to you.

The administration, in Pullet would be called a bank shot, went to China to talk to Iran

not to do what Iran intended and now that Iran has fired missiles

first time I'm told of Iranian soil being used to launch aggressive war

against the neighborhood.

China is deeply concerned.

What is your interpretation of these events?

Are we being laughed at by Beijing?

And when you tell me China is, quote,

deeply concerned, I translate that as,

they don't care one little bit. You're right just last week the State

Department was calling their counterparts in China, asking China to use its influence with Iran.
