This is CBS. I'm the world. I'm John Baxter with Gordon Chiang at Gordon G Chiang,

my colleague and co-host. You all recall the missing foreign minister, Chin Gang,

previously ambassador to the United States from the People's Republic of China,

and then gone, and not only gone physically, but erased from the record keeping

in the People's Republic of China. Well, more names are gone. Two generals,

generals recently identified with the rocket forces gone and replaced.

We welcome Charles Burton of the MacDonald-Lory Institute to comment on this Chinese Communist

Party habit of deciding you no longer exist from the record books or your job or to our

understanding on the planet Earth. Charles, it's just a long practice of the Chinese

Party. When they say never mind, that means you're erased from the books. Good evening to you.

Good evening. Well, I mean, this is unusual that there's no viable explanation being given what

so ever, except that, you know, they may have been involved in corruption. But,

Wang Ho being the commander of the rocket force, and at the same time, the political commissar,

Xu Xisheng, were both raised to the rank of general, which is, you know, the highest rank

you can have while serving, while the previous two guys were Li Yu Chao and Xu Zhong Bo were

released. It's unusual to see a purge of both the commander and the political commissar at the

same time, and also unusual that Wang comes from the navy and Xu from the air force. So in other

words, they're replacing the commander and political commissar of the rocket force with people
