As we begin, find a quiet place and take a deep breath as we enter into God's presence.

Today's reading is Romans 8, 26 through 27.

The spirit helps in our weakness.

We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit,

because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness,

praising Him for His Spirit, interceding for us and His goodness in our lives.

Father, what a gift you've given your children by filling us with your own spirit.

And thank you not just for indwelling us, but for interceding for us through your spirit.

Your word says that even when we don't know what to say, you still want us to come to you.

You still value the time of being with you, even if we're just quiet. Thank you that you have provided for those days when we have no words, when our spirit groans, when we're heavy

burdened and we have so much in our heart, we don't know what to say thank you that your

spirit searches our hearts and praise on our behalf what a gift thank you god in the next few

moments praise god for his goodness in providing his own spirit to intercede for you and for what that has looked like in your own life.

I'm We continue by expressing our neediness, confessing our need for God and for his forgiveness.

God, we confess that so often when we don't know what to pray, it just feels easier to skip

prayer altogether.

It feels ineffective to come before you without really knowing how to pray for the things
