Hi, my name is Pete Scuzeiro on a welcome you today to the emotionally healthy leader podcast.

Now, the whole core of the Christian life can be summed up is it's about praying, it's about

abiding, it's about being with Jesus.

That is life.

And the evil one, the powers of darkness have one objective, and that satanic power is about

wants to cut you off from your union, you're abiding, your being with Jesus.

And so the very core of everything we're doing at Emotionally Discipleship is, and the course

that we're bringing to churches and to leaders is to develop rhythms of being with Jesus and through the daily office in particular.

And the core of the course, the emotionally and the spirituality course and the discipleship course,

is for people to learn to be with Jesus, cultivate their own firsthand relationship with Jesus,

not just go on autopilot, but actually learn to be still and silent, be in scripture,

and not live off other people's spirituality, but have their own. And so this devotional books that go along

with each of the two courses, the emotionally have the day by day, and the emotion of the

relationships day by day, they use the term daily office. And these companions are so critical

to the course, they're actually at the core, because we're moving from quiet time to the daily office.

The daily office is an ancient term that refers to. My first work in life is to be with God.

It's not to get something from God. It is to be with this living God. And sadly, so many folks in our churches, and even leaders, have a seriously underdeveloped

relationship with Jesus, and often fall into a kind of a cultural Christianity and not

actually connecting with Jesus relationally.

Yet Jesus made it very clear.

Apart from me, you can do nothing.

In fact, he makes it clear.
