This month of Awesome Marriage, we've been talking about healing a train wreck marriage. Each week on the podcast, we've been sharing one way

to heal an unhealthy marriage. So today's way to heal a train wreck marriage is prayer and patience.

Dr. Kim, how can prayer heal a marriage that's in trouble?

I think there's something that happens when we go to God in prayer.

And I think if we go with an open heart, now, if I go to prayer and Nancy and I are struggling,

and I'm asking God to change her, and I'm asking God to tell me why she's such a jerk and stuff like that, that's not the kind of prayer we're talking about.

What we're talking about coming before God and saying, God help me to understand. God give me

wisdom in dealing with my spouse. Help me to be the husband that you want me to be. How do I look at

things from her perspective? What does this look like through her eyes? And it's just amazing to me

in those situations how God shows up. And he gives us

insight. I think we don't have without that. He gives us wisdom. And I think a couple things. One,

I stop and I'm taking responsibility. I'm asking the guy of the university coming and help. So I take

that serious. I know God takes it serious. If I'm asking his help and then I blow it off, well, that's not real good. I mean, not God's going to zap me. But, you know, why would even do that? And that he does have answers that I don't have. And so going to prayer, obviously, it's great if a couple can pray together, but I've had couples that because of the state of the relationship,

weren't able to pray together at that time for whatever reason. And so getting them to pray individually those things and at some point working for them

to come together.

But God just, he does amazing things when we come to him with our problems.

And he cares.
