All of that is time to measure how we got here and where's next.

Stephen Lani's article divides understanding of organizations into two parts.

One is called the liberal order, something practiced by the United States and its allies since

the Second War. It features democracy and transparency.

The other is called rules-based order. That is more difficult to summarize other than to say it's not about moralism or condemnation.

It's about getting on with other powers in a multipolar world.

Gregory, how do you measure the US under Joe Biden emphasizing democracy democracy?

Has it been successful?

It has been absolutely unsuccessful because as he's continued to mention democracy, he's also continued

to erode it.

And he's been talking about, and Stephen Lenny has made this point as you expect from

Carnegie Europe which is left of center that you know that this is an

epochal struggle between democracies and authoritarian states.

That in fact this is at odds with the reality because the differential between democratic states and autocratic states has become less and less.

So it's diminished the Obama Obama administration and then just it just if you like imploded under the

Biden administration the US has no foreign influence in the in the sense that it
