Hello there, I'm Chuck Todd. I just got off the meat depressed set here on a Sunday morning.

And we wrapped up a Sunday broadcast where we spent a lot of time sharing the latest numbers

from our NBC news poll. So today I'm joined by the two pollsters behind our poll. Bill

Macintur from public opinion strategies on the Republican side of the aisle and Jeff

Horowitz from heart research on the Democratic side of the aisle. Bill and Jeff welcome

back to the podcast. And let me start with sort of what I took away from it. And Jeff,

I'll let you react to sort of my takeaway from the poll, which is essentially Joe Biden's

lost his political identity. The guy that won the Democratic nomination was the pragmatic

guy who's been around the block, understands, respects the institutions, going to turn down the

temperature, going to figure out to see if he can sort of create a functioning sort of Washington

again. And before we get into why he doesn't have that, is that a fair take that the identity

of who he was a year ago as far as voters are concerned has gone? Do you accept that premise?

I do, Chuck. I think that's a fair characterization. And you know, I think that what

voters were hoping for is there was going to be some calm and some competency coming in with

the Biden administration and so far. There's seen some of that, but not enough, not what they were

looking for. And one of the things that really struck me in the data here, compared to where we were

with Biden and earlier in his presidency is erosion of his qualities. And every successful president

really has some core that they can win in tough times, they can return to who they are, sort of

what is the core of their presidency. And right now there's not a single quality where Biden is

a 50 percent, particularly on being an knowledge and experience for someone who has been in Washington

for so long, that's a real problem. And so going back to Obama being likable, George W. Bush

is trying to be in here compassionate, couldn't getting things done, caring about people, going
