Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham. It is yet another bank holiday,

but our economy is in such a rude state of health and it's okay for everyone to grind to a halt and spend the day shivering on the beaches of Britain. One of the good things about long weekends,

of course, is that you get more time to think about stuff, or more time to consider your options,

more time to get things done.

As a result of all of this, I have an announcement. We are now more than five weeks on

from the first Brexit deadline of March of 29 and we seem to be nowhere near the end game.

This morning, Tory MPs are warning Theresa May not to do a deal with Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party

because more than 100 of them would block a soft Brexit

compromise that would include any kind of customs union, even if it had a time limit.

As a result, we will no doubt have yet more filibustering, more delaying, more posturing and

more impossible demands being made.

The truth is there is never going to be a no-deal Brexit.

Theresa May is never going to allow it, and the Tories have proven themselves completely incapable of dislodging her.

So she can might as well just forget about it.

So here's my message to them all.

Just let a deal get done.
