Tory manifesto launch appeared to provide an awful lot of election ammunition for the Labour party.

Ten million pensioners this morning were waking up to the fact that they could lose their Winterfuel allowance.

When I heard that Theresa May was going to get rid of the Winterfuel allowance for many, many people,

we still don't know how many.

When I heard that she was going to abandon what's called the triple lock for pensioners.

When I heard that she was going to ensure that more people paid more for their care at home,

that famous line used in Yes Minister so often, brave Prime Minister came to mind.

Because these are all potential election losers.

These are policies that people won't like.

There's a famous theory of loss aversion, which is people hate losing something they've already got

and they value it much, much more than something that might be much bigger in value

that they might one day get.

And what Theresa May is taking a gamble on is that she's got a big enough poll lead
