Summary

Episode #180 of DXP begins, we think, with a voicemail about how cold it is in our basement studio, but to be honest we were so cold we were barely paying attention. We hear from another listener about Christian's (allegedly) inebriated condition during our last episode, and another about the use of alcohol among Bible-thumpers. We briefly touch upon Net Neutrality, and Jason receives some pushback about one of his previous biebers. Speaking of which, they're about shooting stuff and burritos.

Regarding the situation with the cold in the room in which you record, you got two options.

0:10.0

Either get some insulation or just drink more.

I think we're going to have to go with the drinking part for right at the moment. Yeah. It is. That acu-right thing says it's 46 degrees in here. It's cold, dude. It's 14 degrees above freezing. This is going to be a short one. And not because we cut it short, because we're going to freeze to death. Yeah. Dude, I'm so depressed. I know you are. Like, we just saw the Last Jedi. Yep, we just got back from it. We shouldn't give any spoilers because people make out of no. No, we will not do any spoilers at all. No spoilers. I would, but... Han is still dead. Well, I mean, I don't, I don't want to give anything away, but he's still dead. Lando coming back. who saw that coming? You know, and salacious crumb making an appearance?

0:56.9

Wow.

0:58.1

No, dude,

1:11.3

I, way, but he's still dead. But Lando coming back. Who saw that coming? You know, and salacious crumb making an appearance? Wow. No, dude, I was just like, I'm very sort of disappointed and underwhelmed by the whole thing. There's like massive amounts of it, like probably even a third of it that I just cannot stand. There's probably a third of it I didn't like either, a lot.

1:12.7

It was just like, wow.

1:18.3

I'm not excited for the franchise now because I was so skeptical going into Force Awakens because it had been so long and because the prequels were so bad.

1:21.9

And Force Awakens, I thought, was so strong that I was excited about the franchise.

1:26.4

But now that Ryan Johnson's in charge for the, you know, for... But he's not directing episode nine. He's not, it's back to J.J. Abrams. Is it? I think so. I don't know. I just felt like so much of the humanity of Force Awakens was just taken out of this. And it almost felt like one of the prequels to me, like the cinematography, the CGI, it just kind of felt like... There were definite moments where I was in the theater. And when Lando died?

1:46.9

See, I assumed the whole time that you and Chloe were absolutely loving it, just loving it.

1:52.7

And so I'm sitting there going, I'm probably the only person here who's like thinking, this reminds me of the prequels a little bit, you know?

1:59.4

But the moments to me that were good were so good that like, like I think I told you before, halfway through the movie I was thinking, I'll never going to watch this piece of shit again. But by the end of the movie, I was like, oh, the second half was so good. I'd watch that again. But you didn't feel, you didn't feel that way. I mean, I think, surprisingly, I think I probably liked it more than you did. But there were parts that I, like, if I, I think this movie, I could edit out 45 minutes of it and really like it. Did you know? I know, no spoilers. We won't give any spoilers. Okay. Turn it off just for a second, though. Okay. Sorry, everybody. We don't want to give spoilers for The Last Jedi, so. Yes. I don't know. And just to be clear, like, we're not, like, we despise the prequels. Oh. They're not even can. Don't even recognize them as films at all. No, no. They are among the worst films ever made. I'm not one of those people who is a diehard originals only. I like Force Awakens better than Return of the Jedi. I do too. And I like Rogue One a lot. So I'm not like, oh, I only like the originals or the prequels are awesome. It's like, no, I love the originals. And I'm, I was expecting this film from what people told me who saw it yesterday. I was expecting it to usurp, maybe even land that's in the second place behind Empire Strikes Back. Yeah. Because people who I know who are huge Star Wars, Well, it is, on Rotten Tomatoes, it is in second place behind Empire Strikes Back. Empire Strikes Back is 94% among critics.

3:26.8

Among critics. I know who are huge Star Wars fans said that. On Rottenamados, it is in second place behind Empire Strikes Back.

3:24.3

Empire Strikes Back is 94% among critics.

3:28.6

This is 56% among audiences.

3:29.8

Last Jedi among critics is 93%.

3:32.0

Right.

3:33.3

But it's like it doesn't, I mean, the audience is what matters.

3:36.8

And the audience is saying this is a middle of the road film.

3:39.6

Yeah.
