up to what is the hottest ticket in the autumn marathon season here in the UK, the brand new

PlusNet, Yorkshire Marathon being held on October the 20th, starting in York.

And today, I'm joined by Lisa Ashcroft to talk Roots.

Lisa is the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon event lead.

And as we know, everyone loves a good talk about marathon routes and courses.

So welcome to Marathon Talk, Lisa.

Thank you, Martin. It's lovely to be speaking to you about the course today.

It's pretty exciting. I know that the event sold out super quick. You've released a few last minute places with Jane's appeal as well this week. So you must be really

excited about the first event. Oh, absolutely. We're really pleased. We thought it would be popular.

You know, we're talking about the cost today. And that certainly was one of the main selling

points. We didn't quite think it would be as popular as it has been, and the sellout so quicken

and the demand, it's just been fantastic.

We're really pleased.

So obviously when people pick a marathon, one of the things they look at is the route.

So, you know, where does it go and where does it start and where does it finish?

So what do you think makes your race so important

why is the route going to be so much fun well it has a couple of fantastic selling points the

first of which is the location york is the city it's got a long history um there's a lot of historical

landmarks it's a great place to visit anyway but in terms of running

it's great to see some of the sites and then to get out there in the veil of york which is

quite beautiful and quite flat which of course is definitely an advantage in marathon running
