0:33.3	So today we're back to the Generation Ship series to discuss building spaceships that are of a planetary scale,

0:59.6	Why would you ever want to move an entire planet?
1:03.2	That's a good question, but it turns out that we might have a few good reasons.
1:07.8	First we might realize that something is about to go terribly wrong with our sun,
1:12.3	as will happen when it begins to run out of fuel and slowly heats up and expands, and we'll want
1:17.6	to move Earth. Even as early as about one billion years from now, the Sun's luminosity may
1:23.2	have increased sufficiently to render the Earth uninhabitable. We've talked before about ways of extending a star's lifetime, but those are very time
1:32.0	and labor-consuming tasks.
1:34.5	Moving a tiny rocky planet-like Earth is, comparatively, a weekend project, so you might
1:40.1	decide to just migrate Earth to a new, younger solar system. Of course, we could face a more
1:46.0	immediate solar emergency, perhaps of an artificial variety, such as an artificial black hole
