My name is Mark Linton-Meyer.

I guess for episode 188 is Pat Irwin.

He started in the late 70 New York No Wave scene with Lydia Lunch's 8-Eye Spy and then

an instrumental group, The Ray Beats, playing saxophone and guitar and keyboards.

He joined the B-52s as a keyboardist and extra guitarist.

Just after the release of their huge album, 1989's Cosmic Thing, so he was playing with

them when he got this commission to do his first major TV work, which is The Theme Two

Rocco's Modern Life, featuring the B-52s you're right now hearing and it's now moved

into some other music from that show Rocco needs more time.

So today we're going to be talking to him mostly about his soundtrack work.

Most recently he did all the music to Dexter New Blood.

So we'll hear some selections from that.

Then we'll talk about an instrumental that is not from his soundtrack work.

In another time he's done a few different versions of that.

When you'll hear in full it is from Duets for Electric Guitar and Piano, a 2018 EP.

Then we'll hear a little of the soundtrack from Bored to Death in 2011 and go back to

Hoodlum Priest by The Ray Beats from Glass, the Lost Philip Glass Sessions 1982.

And finally we'll hear a track from an instrumental group that he's been in very recently called

The Sus, S-U-S-S, and we'll hear the title track to a 2022 EP called Winter Was Hard.
