Chapter 5, regain your focus, regain your life.

We all kind of live in this rattled world

where we don't have much attention,

we don't have much focus, and people always want to know,

how can I have more focus, how can I improve my attention

span? Well the first thing is what really is focus? That's another one of the things we've

here a lot. Focus, focus, focus. What does it mean? I like to think a focus kind of like a lens.

And that lens is your attention. If you've ever looked at your iPhone or used a nicer

camera, you can zoom in on something, you can zoom out on something.

The more you zoom in on something, the more you're focused on it.

The more you're focused on it, the more you're focused on it.

The less you're focused on it. Now we live in a world where this is what we do.

Oh you know hey dude what's going on? Oh yeah I and everybody looks kind of frenzied. In fact it's kind of weird when you talk to people these days.

Rarely does someone pause, look you in the eye, shake your hand, hi how are you doing?

How is your day? How do you feel? When is the last time that that has ever happened?

When is the last time you've ever had that kind of connection? We don't really have it because we don't have focus and the reason we don't have focus among other things is that there's a myth that we have multitasking that we can do a bunch of different things at once.

If you've ever applied for a job or looked at job postings,

they all say the same thing.

We want you to be a multitasker.

And people brag about that, but numerous studies have shown

and you can look up all the research.

There's no such thing as multitasking.
