This is Book of Mormon Central's Come Follow Me Insights. Today, the last half of the

Book of Jeremiah and the Book of Lamentations.

And we're so excited to welcome George Pierce, our friend and colleague, for this particular

episode because these are not easy chapters to make sense of and to digest, quite frankly.

This is a really difficult section.

And gratefully, George has spent many years studying this part of the history of the kingdom of Judah and the ancient near East.

So we're looking forward to hearing your insights.

Maybe before we jump into Jeremiah 30, maybe, George, you could help us lay some groundwork

in chapters 26 through 29 to set the stage for what's going to be in the scriptures

today? Absolutely. So in Jeremiah 26, we start to see the troubles of Jeremiah mount with the

government, if you will. And it's in the reign then of Jeholyak Kim, who is the son of King Josiah.

And it's at the beginning of this then that Jeremiah is going to go stand in the temple,

as it says in Jeremiah 26, verse 2.

Thus saith the Lord, stand in the court of the Lord's house and speak unto all the seas of Judah,

which come to worship in the Lord's house, all the all the seas of Judah, which come to worship in

the Lord's house, all the words that I command thee to speak into them, diminish not a word.

And then he's going to start in basically berating Judah and Jerusalem for the sort of missteps

that they've done in terms of the covenant. But don't you find it interesting, George, that the very
