Look at the last line of verse 12 as he is finalizing this concept of the ultimate gathering,

and they shall not sorrow anymore at all.

It hearkens to the idea of God wiping away all tears from their eyes.

a voice was heard in Rama, lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children,

refusing to be comforted for her children because they were not. And so there's this cause because

they're going into judgment. This very verse, it talks about in Jeremiah's context, Rachel weeping

for her children, the children of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin talks about in Jeremiah's context, Rachel weeping for her children.

The children of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.

And so Jeremiah is talking about the House of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh and the tribe of Benjamin going into exile,

and how Rachel figuratively is weeping for her children.

Now, interestingly, this gets picked up in Matthew chapter 2. Matthew loves this verse. So he's going to

cause and talk about how in his context he's going to apply that to that incidence in Matthew

chapter 2 where King Herod has that sort of action against all the young ones in Bethlehem.
